day 178 in office - 13 years since 800

It's been 13 years now. every year the song's the same, as are my thoughts. i'm not a believer in religion, heaven and hell, or any of that. but if energy can neither be created nor destroyed, then maybe grander consciousness can't either.

sleep well monica, i hope wherever you are is better than it was here.

artist: suede
album: suede
song: the next life

watch this- from day one i've never bought the "official" story. you make up your own mind.

here's an article from a year after the disaster. i talked to cindy around this time and i think it did a lot of good. this event isn't the kind of thing you ever get over, but talking to people can make it hurt less.

day 152 in office

the haitus thing is working well for me. as tired as i am right now, if i had tried to put up a blog posting each day in the past two weeks, my job marriage and mental well being would have all suffered greatly. that said, tonight you get a song. it's the first day in over a month that i didn't at least stop in at work for an hour or so.

my sister got married this past friday night in vegas by fat elvis. i hear he prefers to be called "jumpsuit elvis". either way, they had a good time and are now in the eyes of the law legit. congrats sis and damon. here's some billy idol...

artist: billy idol
album: billy idol
song: white wedding

watch this- the video of their vegas chapel experience.

day 139 in office

early summer storms roll through the midwest with furious lightning and wind.  that was what happened last monday, and rather than the mac or drives getting fried, we chose to unplug them as is often the case at this time of year. then the weekend hit and i didn't post anything.  i'm starting to realize that with what i'm doing at work and trying to have any kind of life outside of it, i'm burning my candle at both ends.  this isn't a goodbye, nor even necessarily a hiatus. what i am saying is that as busy as i am right now, i rescind my promise of a song a day.  i'll put stuff up whenever i have the energy to do so, but i can't handle the daily grind here right now.  i hope you still follow along, i'll be back up to full strength sometime.  here's some hum, because they were one of the best ever.

artist: hum
album: downward is heavenward
song: appollo

watch this-    hum on 120.  the song punches you in the face, yet sounds beautiful while doing it.  "i'd like your hair long"

day 133 in office - bacon sandwich

well, it's on me to excel now.  i've joined the management team.  in a smallish way being the administrative assistant, but part of the team anyway.  now i have to learn my way around office software, and how to figure out why we're x amount of money over and under every day.  but i do get to look good doing it.  there's the plus.  just because i wear pants with holes in the pockets and a dirty black chef coat most of the time doesn't mean i can't rock some style when given the opportunity.  i was planning on putting this song up for this announcement for days. there's so much in it that just seems fitting.  that's in addition to it being a favorite song from an album that's on one of the 5 albums i'd take to the hypothetical desert island.  then when looking up the website to link here, i find that apparently this time it's for real.  harvey danger is calling it a day for good.  that crushes a bit of my soul.  well sean and the guys will no doubt go on to other endeavors and hopefully give me multiple new works to fall in love with.  enjoy the song tonight, it's fucking great.

artist: harvey danger
album: king james version
song: pike st.-park slope

watch this-    ione skye in their video for "sad sweetheart of the rodeo", also from king james version.

watch this also-    on a different level, but like the guy that did the rachel's cover on youtube, here's a guy doing a pretty damn good, even if robotic, cover of "wine, women, and song" on a ukulele.

read this-    ok, we'll clean up the planet, but won't someone PLEASE think about the consumers!!!  <--- if you know me, you got that.
